KAKOPERATO CANYON NEAR KOSMADEI ON SAMOS

If you drive up the hills, from Meseo Karlovasi through Lekka, ca. 2 km later you turn right for Kosmadei. The next ca. 6 km offer a great trip up in the mountains, through old green woods and along some newer chapels. Kosmadei is a village, that impresses with great views & walks, 600 meters above the sea. From here you can reach the Kakoperato Canyon Cave in ca. 90 minutes. A great trip through nature, all around the Samosian mountains. Definitely no Barefoot- or Flip-Flop-Area!

I had my camera fixed on my forehead, and the result was a lot of hectic moves. But that was part of the game.

If you land in Kosmadei someday, don’t miss to visit the unique tavern at the parking spot. Because this old lady’s living room bar restaurant taverna is a real institution in this village – to me.

HIPPY’S BEACH BAR POTAMI KARLOVASI

A real chillin‘ location, right on the beach: Hippy’s in the Potami area, close to Karlovasi, on greek island Samos offers great food at Hippy’s restaurant, or you can spend your time right around the corner at the bar or on the beach beds of the club area. Friendly people, funny cats, shady places at noon – I love it!

The shady waterfall area begins 5 minutes walk from here, if you prefer getting grilled you can also start a 90 minutes trip to famous Megalo Seitani beach around noon, and from there in another hard’n’heavy 90 minutes 550 meters up the hill to Drakei: Far out, in the west of this beautiful island, and after a breathtaking trip along the rough coastline of Samos, you will find a  greek village with own character and very friendly people. Enjoy the best food in Drakei at the authentic greek Omonia Tavern of Eleftheria and John Agelinas, right in front of the church. Think about daylight, if you start your way back.

POTAMI WATERFALLS

SURE, THIS IS NO WATERFALL.
SURE, THIS IS NO WATERFALL.

The famous Potami Waterfalls, located close to Karlovasi on greek island Samos, are at first sight kind of dissapointing for many visitors – because they just take one look and do not see any real Niagara type of waterfall. But that’s all right, folks! So for the real show and further special entertainment you have to walk through the cold water and ruin your shoes … or your feet ;-)

MY ITALIAN DESIGNER BOOTS FROM BAUHAUSONI WERE RUINED, AFTER MY VISIT. I WAS VERY ANGRY ABOUT GREECE.
MY ITALIAN DESIGNER BOOTS FROM BAUHAUSONI WERE COMPLETELY RUINED, AFTER MY VISIT OF THE POTAMI WATERFALLS. I WAS VERY ANGRY ABOUT GREECE.

The video shows my dry and wet walk and climbing all the way up from the Potami beach area to the bridge close to Tsourley. From there I took the way back along the eastern hill side of the creek, had a break in the taverna Archodissa, climbed down the funny stairways to heaven, hell and the creek, and walked back to my starting point, at the old church. All in all a ca. 3 hours trip.

KARLOVASIPOTAMISAMOS FILM NOIR

KARLOVASIPOTAMISAMOS – a colorful FILM NOIR exercise

Visual impressions and some programmed beats on KARLOVASI, SAMOS Island, especially POTAMI – a place, where I prefer to wake up. Why FILM NOIR? Excusez moi, Nino Frank, but this one was inspired by the so named iMovie-Filter …  HOW UNCOOL!

SOUND & VISIONS by PALEBLUEICE.COM

Samos Island is a part of Greece, very close to Turkey. Karlovasi is the biggest city after Vathi, no beauty but authentic. From here you can explore some awesome locations like the lonesome beaches Megalo Seitani and Mikro Seitani, the Potami waterfalls and the Hippy’s beach club at Potami. Long walks to Drakei’s Taverna Omonia or Kosmadei and from there to  Katoperato canyon are real experiences.
