If you drive up the hills, from Meseo Karlovasi through Lekka, ca. 2 km later you turn right for Kosmadei. The next ca. 6 km offer a great trip up in the mountains, through old green woods and along some newer chapels. Kosmadei is a village, that impresses with great views & walks, 600 meters above the sea. From here you can reach the Kakoperato Canyon Cave in ca. 90 minutes. A great trip through nature, all around the Samosian mountains. Definitely no Barefoot- or Flip-Flop-Area!

If you land in Kosmadei someday, don’t miss to visit the unique tavern at the parking spot. Because this old lady’s living room bar restaurant taverna is a real institution in this village – to me.
